The Banana Antenna Calculator allows you to input any frequency and achieve accurate measurements to achieve a precise build for all Amateur Radio HF Bands. This has not been tested on VHF (50MHz and above) banana-antenna-calculator No macros are embedded .

Two aspects of antenna performance may limit the bandwidth. One is the reflected power, and the other is the gain. As many antennas are operated as resonant antennas, there is only a limited band over which they can operate. Outside these limits the level of reflected power increases and they may not be able to operate as effectively.

Jul 01,  · I seen one of these antennas made from a 2x4 and scrap wire on Youtube. Looks easy. My concern, as an amateur, is tuning it correctly for this single channel 8. Someone above raised the concern that a reflector might be needed. Even if I construct my simple 31" dipole, I'm not sure of the distance between the two poles.

Wouldn’t that compromise a 2 meter antenna? Finally it struck me, don’t fight the metal; take advantage of it. Cut a “slot” antenna into the TV dish’s reflector. A slot antenna is a narrow rectangular opening in a large conductive surface, such as a TV satellite dish. Slot antennas are familiar in .
