The 12 songs the LP contained were filled with tropical percussion instruments and bird/jungle/surf sounds. The music took full advantage of the, then new, stereo format. Four of the songs also had a beautifully hypnotic wordless female vocal/5(10).

The Surfmen recorded two albums' worth of tunes for Miller, who subsequently released it in a variety of different packages. Exotic Islandis the first and easiest to spot, and given its title and cover, probably the one most likely to be marked up by record dealers.

LPs: “LP” stands for Long Playing. These are also often called “albums” or “33s,” since they play at 33 revolutions per minute. LPs are typically 12 inches in diameter with a small spindle hole in the center, have a number of songs on each side, and usually come inside cardboard covers with artwork/pictures.

Rarer still, though, is the offered blue vinyl LP for the second LP of Aloha from Hawaii. Although it represents sides 3 and 4 of the record, and lists the appropriate songs, the label is marked “Side A” and “Side B.” The matrix numbers are stamped as CPRT and CPRT, and the album is stamped on the more flexible Dynaflex vinyl.
