Or go behind the scenes of a masterpiece-the documentary Gimme Some Truth-The Making of Imagine, featuring an unfinished film by John and Yoko, is available on VHS or DVD (DVD has surround sound, an eight-page booklet and discography). A treasured moment in rock history/5().

Oct 05,  · The other film Gimme Some Truth is the recording process of the Imagine album and it is interesting to hear how tracks evolved over time until we end up with the version we know and love. Both of these movies will presumably not interest anyone who isn't a fan, particularly Imagine since it features both John and Yoko vocally/5().

AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine [+] Much grander than the single-disc Power to the People but not nearly as lavish as the disc Signature Box, the four-disc Gimme Some Truth is the middle ground of Apple/EMI’s John Lennon reissue series: a collection of four thematic collections offered at a reasonable price.8/

Imagine & Gimme Some Truth (DVD/Blu-ray) Restored, remixed and remastered in glorious surround sound – two films by John and Yoko from the Imagine era. Imagine is a cinema collage of color, sound, dream and reality, featuring numerous guest stars including George Harrison, Fred Astaire, Andy Warhol, Dick Cavett, Jack Palance and Jonas Mekas.

Apr 11,  · Incorporating footage from John and Yoko's original film Imagine (clips of which were previously included in the documentary Imagine: John Lennon), Gimme Some Truth presents Lennon, Ono, coproducer Phil Spector, and a host of gifted musicians in a fluid context of conflict, community, and craftsmanship. Bearing witness to every stage of the recording process, this 63 /5(38).

The title track's canny blend of iconoclasm and utopianism is set to one of his most heartrending melodies, but its neighbors are equally impressive. Lennon's rejection of political tricksters on the stomping, growling "Gimme Some Truth" is invigorated by George Harrison's signature slide licks.
